DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer
Part Time
Remote
Job Description
We are looking for a DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to set up and audit the development infrastructure for a new P2P payment platform. This is a part-time / project-based engagement focused on building solid foundations — Dev/Stage environments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and baseline security — that the team can rely on and scale from. It's an ideal fit for an experienced engineer looking for flexible, high-impact project work rather than a full-time commitment.
About the Client
Our client is building a new P2P payment system from the ground up — a fintech product enabling secure, fast, and scalable peer-to-peer transactions. The company is focused on creating reliable payment infrastructure, combining modern architecture with strong transactional guarantees to serve users at scale.
What You Will Do
-
Design and configure Dev/Stage infrastructure for a fintech product built on microservices/modular architecture.
-
Set up and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI / GitHub Actions) for reliable, repeatable deployments.
-
Containerize services and configure orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
-
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to ensure environments are reproducible and version-controlled.
-
Set up monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana) and centralized logging (ELK / Loki) to ensure visibility into system health and performance.
-
Establish baseline network security practices, including environment isolation between Dev/Stage/Prod.
-
Implement measures to protect against DDoS and other common infrastructure-level threats.
-
Review and audit existing infrastructure setup, identify gaps, and recommend improvements for reliability and fault tolerance.
-
Document infrastructure architecture and provide clear handover materials / recommendations for the internal team.
-
Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure infrastructure aligns with application and deployment needs.
What We Are Looking For
-
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitLab CI / GitHub Actions.
-
Practical experience setting up monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana) and logging solutions (ELK / Loki).
-
Solid understanding of network security principles, DDoS protection, and environment isolation practices.
-
Experience building infrastructure from scratch for early-stage or growing products.
-
Ability to work independently, audit existing setups, and propose pragmatic, scalable solutions.
-
Experience with cloud providers (AWS / GCP / Azure or similar) is a plus.
-
Prior experience with fintech, payment systems, or other high-security/high-availability products is a plus.
-
Strong communication skills to document decisions and hand off work clearly to the internal team.
-
Availability for part-time / project-based engagement with flexible scheduling.
What You Can Expect
-
Part-time / contractor engagement — flexible hours and workload, project-based scope.
-
An opportunity to shape the infrastructure foundation of a payment system from the very beginning.
-
Direct collaboration with the core backend/engineering team, with clear scope and minimal bureaucracy.
-
Potential for extended or ongoing collaboration as the project scales, based on mutual fit.
